The FC Schalke 04 striker and the U21 footballers then took the plane home with a good feeling. “Now we can fly home calmly,” said Teuchert, who was the man of the game with three goals in the convincing 6-0 victory of the German U21 against Ireland in Dublin. “That was a huge step in the direction of the European Championship,” said Teuchert.
The youngsters are now almost certain to have their ticket to the European Championship. With a five-point lead, a win from the home games against Norway and Ireland in October is enough for the direct qualification. “I think we can still achieve a lot with the team,” enthused match winner Teuchert. Qualifying for the European Championship, defending the title, a ticket for the Olympics 2020 – the next goals of the U21 are ambitious.
In Dublin, the U21 presented itself as a joy to play, strong in the end and convincing in all areas. The 6:0 was a demonstration of strength, especially after the recent criticism of the DFB’s young talent system. “Now it was simply important for the team to reward its team spirit with the right result,” said U21 coach Stefan Kuntz. “And that’s what they did 100 per cent.
Aaron Seydel from Kiel, three times Teuchert and double goalscorer Suat Serdar scored the goals against the Irish, who had previously provided the best defence in the qualifying group. “That, of course, makes my personal striker’s heart beat faster. I can only praise the boys for their determination and also for the exploitation of their chances,” said Kuntz, referring to the goal scoring of his attackers.
Monaco’s Benjamin Henrichs said: “We have an enormous amount of quality. There’s a lot in the team and we’ve seen that today”.
The 21-year-old Teuchert, who has already scored seven goals in his seven U21 internationals, became an enormously important factor. “Everyone is happy for each other, everyone fights for each other. I feel very comfortable in the team, it’s a lot of fun,” he said. “It was my first hat-trick for Germany. That makes me proud to help the team with the three goals.” Redzone Sports have standard sign up bonus and for big events as well.
Since his move to FC Schalke during the winter break, Teuchert has not been able to get beyond his role as a joker in the club, but he usually plays strongly in the U21. “The exchange between the DFB and the club is optimal,” Kuntz said. “Cedric doesn’t have so many playing times with Schalke yet, he can get them here. Teuchert definitely wants to take the momentum with him to his club: “That gives me self-confidence for the next few weeks on Schalke,” he said.
The teamwork with Schalke colleague Serdar, who finished 6-0 with his heel goal, was also brilliant. “I left the second penalty kick to Cedric because he wanted to make a three-pack. In the third, it was the other way round,” said Serdar. “This solidarity distinguishes us as a team.
